State Student Regent Chosen
Gov. Janet Napolitano has appointed University of Arizona student David Martinez III to the Arizona Board of Regents as the Student Regent. Martinez is a Secondary Education senior from Marana. He'll serve on the Board for 2 years; he becomes a voting member during his 2nd year of service.
"David is very innovation-oriented & expressed a desire to bring new, fresh ideas to Arizona's university system," Gov. Napolitano said. "He is focused on moving forward the university system, making it more available to Arizona students, & in creating a learning environment that will graduate a workforce prepared for the global market."
Martinez has worked as an intern for Congressman Grijalva & as a student correspondent for Tucson's Arizona Daily Star. He currently works in the Equal Opportunity & Affirmative Action Office at the University of Arizona & serves as the Election Commissioner for the Associated Students of the University of Arizona. He was the recipient of the University of Arizona Minority Student Achievement Award.
