From The Tri-City Fire Dept:

A 3-vehicle accident on U.S. Highway 60/70 & El Camino in Claypool resulted in one occupant being critically injured & flown by Native Air Ambulance to Maricopa Medical Center in Phoenix. Ms. Desiree Sanchez, 25, of Globe received multiple injuries & was listed in critical condition at the time of this release. The driver of a pickup truck, Mr. Francisco Estrella, 66, also of Globe was transported to Cobre Valley Community Hospital by Tri-City Ambulance & later released. The 2 occupants of the 3rd vehicle were examined on scene by EMS personnel & did not require further medical treatment.

The accident occurred at approx. 4:30 pm on Friday. During the accident & while officers continued their investigation, all-eastbound traffic was diverted through East Broadway for several hours. This accident is the latest of several major accidents with injuries at this intersection over the past year.
