Weekend Freeway Restrictions

The Az Dept of Transportation says the following freeway closures or restrictions are scheduled in the Phoenix area this weekend (Feb. 23-26):

* Eastbound US 60 (Superstition Freeway) closed between Val Vista Drive & Greenfield Rd from 10 p.m. Fri. - 5 a.m. Mon. (Feb. 26) for freeway widening work & rubberized asphalt paving. Eastbound US 60 on ramps at Mesa Drive, Stapley Rd & Gilbert Rd also closed. Traffic detoured along Baseline Rd or Southern Ave. Drivers encouraged to use southbound Loop 101 to eastbound Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) as alternate route.

* Westbound I-10 narrowed to 2 lanes between Baseline & Broadway roads from 9 p.m. Fri. - 9 a.m. Sat. (Feb. 24) for concrete pavement maintenance. Westbound US 60 ramp to westbound I-10 narrowed to 1 lane. Westbound I-10 on ramp at Baseline Road & off ramp at Broadway Rd/52nd St. closed. Westbound US 60 drivers encouraged to avoid restrictions by using northbound Loop 101 to westbound Loop 202 (Red Mtn. Freeway) as alternate route.

* Westbound I-10 narrowed to 2 lanes between Broadway Rd & 40th St. from 9 p.m. Sat. - 9 a.m. Sun. (Feb. 25) for concrete pavement maintenance. Westbound I-10 exit to northbound State Route 143 closed. Airport traffic can exit at Broadway Rd/52nd St. & use westbound Broadway Rd to reach SR 143. Westbound US 60 ramp to westbound I-10 narrowed to one lane. Westbound US 60 drivers encouraged to avoid restrictions by using northbound Loop 101 to westbound Loop 202 (Red Mtn. Freeway) as alternate route.

* Loop 101 (Agua Fria Freeway) narrowed to 2 lanes in each direction near Peoria Ave. from 10 p.m. Sat. - 5 a.m. Sun. (Feb. 25) for installation of temporary concrete barrier wall. Drivers should use caution and be prepared to merge safely approaching the work zone.
