Two New State Board of Education Members
Gov. Napolitano announced the appointment of 2 new members to the State Board of Education. The appointments of Martha Harmon of Phoenix & Jacob C. Moore of Scottsdale are subject to Senate confirmation. Both have been appointed as public members.
“I’m truly looking forward to seeing the great work that Martha & Jacob will do while members of this board,” Gov. Napolitano said. “Each comes to the table with a vast amount of management experience & I am sure that each will make great contributions to the State & its education system.”
Harmon is currently the C.E.O. of the Arizona College Scholarship Foundation & has served in the Az Dept of Education & the Arizona Office of the Attorney General. She has more than 25 years experience in management & executive responsibility, including positions as deputy State School Superintendent (1995-1998) & Director of the Men’s Anti-Violence Network/Arizona Foundation for Women.
Moore is a managing partner of Generation Seven Strategic Partners, LLC, created specifically for the purpose of providing a liaison between tribal & non-tribal entities. Additionally, Moore is Tribal Relations Coordinator for the Az State University Office of Public Affairs. His experience also includes legislative positions within the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community. Moore is the 1st Native American to be appointed to the State Board of Education in nearly 20 years.
