Implementation Plan For Tonto & Christopher Creeks
The ADEQ, in accordance with Arizona Revised Statute ยง 49-234 (G), (H), & (J), is in the process of developing the Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) Implementation Plan for Tonto Creek & Christopher Creek in the Salt River Watershed. This implementation plan describes management measures designed to achieve the pollutant load reductions identified in the nitrogen & Escherichia coli TMDL studies.
TMDL analysis defines the total amount or load of a pollutant that a waterbody can receive without causing an exceedance of state surface water quality standards. The TMDL implementation plan explains how the load allocations & load reductions in existing pollutant loadings will be achieved & the time frame in which attainment of applicable surface water quality standards is expected to be achieved. The TMDL implementation planning process enlists the participation of stakeholder groups & other interested parties to assist in identifying the most reasonable management measures that should be implemented to achieve surface water quality standards for Tonto Creek & Christopher Creek.
