Industrial Pretreatment Inspector ($42,577.60 - $57,387.20 Annually). This class performs technical duties in the inspection of industrial & commercial waste storage & discharge to ensure compliance with ordinances & state & federal requirements. This includes: developing & conducting public outreach & education activities, drafting enforcement actions, drafting inspection reports & enforcement actions, drafting industrial wastewater discharge permits, & participating in compliance hearings. Additionally, incumbents are responsible for determining City of Mesa facilities compliance & for conducting capacity studies for engineering projects.

Minimum Qualification(s) Required: Any combination of training, education, or experience equivalent to graduation from high school or GED. Considerable (3 - 5 years) experience in pretreatment programs, industrial &/or commercial waste, wastewater operations, or closely related area.

Special Requirement(s): Must possess a valid Arizona Driver's License by hire date. Must meet the qualifications to wear a tight fitting respirator by passing a medical evaluation in accordance with CFR 1910.134 by hire or promotion date & must maintain certification. Must possess a Grade I Wastewater Treatment Operator Certification from the Arizona Dept. Of Environmental Quality by hire or promotion, & possess a Grade II Wastewater Treatment Operator Certification within 1 year of hire or promotion date. Preferred/Desirable Qualification(s): Post high school coursework in chemistry, water & wastewater technology, or drafting is desirable.
