Ironwood-Gantzel Construction Alert

Construction alert for the Ironwood-Gantzel Roadway Improvement Project. These alerts will announce construction, detour & closure information as it affects traffic.

1. NIGHT WORK- Ironwood Road between Taylor & Chandler Heights will be closed from Sun., Jan. 21st, to Fri., Feb. 2nd, between 8 p.m. & 5 a.m. to allow crews to complete the construction of the intersection. Motorists will be detoured from Pima to Kenworthy to Chandler Heights during the night hours. Traffic will be down to 1 through lane & 1 left turn lane in each direction at the intersection of Ironwood & Ocotillo between 5 a.m. to 8 p.m.

2. TEMPORARY DETOUR EXTENSION - North & Southbound traffic will be diverted to a paved shoulder on Ironwood Drive north of the Powerline Floodway to the Apache Junction city limits so crews can continue earthwork on the west side of Ironwood.

3. SPEED LIMITS - Motorists can help improve safety by slowing down & obeying posted speed limit signs around work zones. Due to the prevalence of speeding within the construction site, fines will be doubled for those motorists ticketed in a work zone. Speed limits vary depending upon the construction segment. Motorists should be especially alert for the presence of flaggers & other construction personnel.
