Brown Road closure for Loop 202 work
A planned 7-month closure of Brown Road near the future Loop 202 in Mesa starts tomorrow morning (Jan. 8th) to speed construction of a new bridge over the freeway.
The Az. Dept. of Transportation (ADOT) says Brown Road will be closed between 80th & 86th streets until this summer to allow crews to shave several months off the schedule for building the bridge & other features, including roundabout intersections, at the future freeway interchange.
Access to local neighborhoods will be maintained. Drivers are encouraged to use McKellips Road & University Drive as the primary east-west routes in the area. In addition to allowing the accelerated construction schedule, the full closure also will provide a safer work zone in the area.
The work is part of the $195 million project to build the Red Mountain Freeway between Power Road & University Drive. The entire freeway project's scheduled for completion in summer 2008.
