Gerry Miller returns to the Pinal County Historical Society Museum Speakers Series with new information from his never-ending study of Tom Mix. What new photographs & anecdotes of this fascinating movie star will Miller share? Who really was Tom Mix? Why was he in Tucson in 1940 & why was he coming to Florence? What were the unusual circumstances of his death in the car crash south of Florence?
A reserve San Diego policeman & frequent lecturer on many topics, Mr. Miller especially enjoys researching American western history & the Civil War. Now interested especially in Tom Mix, he has collected many interesting anecdotes, photos & information on the famous movie star of both the silent era & the talkies.
Before or after this free program, check out the rest of the museum’s fine collection, especially the Tom Mix artifacts. Along with items relating to Florence’s wild west past, they have prison artifacts including the famous nooses. Check out the cactus furniture, bullets, barbed wire, & rare gun collection as well.
