Grants Will Benefit Five Az. Main Streets
Helping Arizonans & state visitors find their way to downtown businesses is an over-arching theme in the 5 Main Street Grants awarded by the Arizona Dept. of Commerce.
The total of grants awarded is $47,855.
$15,000 to build & install 2 entryway monument signs at the gateways to the community.
"wayfinding" (directional) signage design & location plan, which will include location map, design concepts & implementation program - 3 deteriorated vertical neon signs on Florence St. - strategies & update ordinances for community stabilization, enhancement, & business implementation for the Historic Downtown & Main Street areas of the City of Williams (development area) - & printing of the Historic Florence Walking Tour brochure.
The Main Street Program fosters economic development within the context of historic preservation by working as a partner with local & state agencies, property owners & business people to revitalize downtown areas. The Az. Legislature established the Main Street Program within the Az. Dept. of Commerce to stimulate the preservation & revitalization of downtown areas in smaller communities statewide. Commerce assists Main Street Program participants in creating local organizations that manage both revitalization & promotion of central business districts in communities statewide.
