Flags Flown At Half-Staff
Gov. Napolitano is joining President George W. Bush in recognizing Thurs., Dec. 7th, 2006 as National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day. Additionally, Gov. Napolitano has proclaimed it "Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day," to commemorate the 65th Anniversary of the attack on the U.S.S. Arizona in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.
"We owe a great debt to all the men & women who have served in the military, whether in war or peacetime," Gov. Napolitano said. "We should always take the time to honor the memory of those whose lives were lost on American soil on Dec. 7th, 1941."
The damage sustained to the U.S.S. Arizona makes Pearl Harbor a particularly poignant event for our state. The Capitol Museum will host annual Pearl Harbor Day events, as well as open a new exhibit titled "Flagship of the Fleet: Life & Death of the U.S.S. Arizona." More info on the museum's activities is available by visiting lib.az.us/museum/index.cfm.
