Arizona's FIRST LEGO Robotics Tournament

Gov. Napolitano will be speaking at the opening of the FIRST LEGO Robotics tournament at 8:30 a.m. at the Carl Hayden High School at 3333 W. Roosevelt in Phoenix. FIRST (For Inspiration & Recognition of Science & Technology) & The LEGO Group teamed up in 1998 to create the FIRST LEGO League (FLL) program for children. FIRST is respected worldwide for its work engaging young people in hands-on science & math activities. The LEGO Group is the Founding Partner of the FIRST LEGO League & provides many resources for the FLL.

Tomorrow's tournament will have approx. 1,000 children ages 9-14 showing off their robots made of LEGOS. FLL calls its tournaments Sport for the Mind because they allow children to apply the math & science they learn in the classroom to the real world in a fun & challenging way.
