Tonto Waives Fees For Veteran's Day
The Tonto National Forest will waive recreation fees across the forest on Veteran’s Day, Nov. 11th, 2006, to honor Americans who have served in the armed forces.
All fees will be waived at forest day use sites & campgrounds. This includes swimming sites, picnic sites, fishing sites & boat ramps on the lower portions of the Salt and Verde Rivers & the chain of lakes on both rivers. The waiver also applies to campgrounds including Tortilla Campground near Canyon Lake, Burnt Corral Campground on Apache Lake, & Cholla, Windy Hill, Fraizer, Schoolhouse & Indian Point campgrounds on Roosevelt Lake. The waiver doesn't apply to group use fees or fees charged by concession-operated facilities such as marinas on the lakes & campgrounds in the Payson area.
The waiver also applies to fees associated with the new Tonto Pass program, which provides opportunities to purchase daily passes & watercraft stickers valid for forest recreation sites at more than 90 retail vendors across the State of Arizona.
For more info, or to order passes & stickers directly from the forest using credit cards & debit cards, call the Tonto National Forest Supervisor’s Office at 602-225-5200.
