Free Firewood Permits Available

The Globe Ranger District is offering free permits to collect dead/down firewood in the Pinal Mountain Fuelbreak area. This material is now being offered only with a valid, issued permit. The permits are for dead/down pine & fir fuelwood of up to 5 chords of the listed species in the designated area located on Forest Road 651, top east end of the Pinal Mountain Range. Permits & maps of the area are available at the Globe Ranger District office at 7680 Six Shooter Canyon Road in Globe from 7:45 p.m. - 4:30 p.m., Mon - Fri. The harvest period is underway & ends on Dec. 31st, 2006. Other environmental conditions, such as wet weather & wind, may necessitate restrictions or closures to be placed on harvesting the wood.
