Scary Irish Halloween Stories
Get your Halloween season off to a good start with an evening of scary stories at the Irish Cultural Center. Four of Arizona’s best storytellers will present Scary Irish Stories for Halloween. The program will feature Sean Buvala, Cari Knarr, Sandy Oglesby & Liz Warren. They will present a program of traditional stories, with some modern twists.
“Stories are best told in the dark part of the year & Samhain, or Halloween, is the traditional gateway to that time,” said Warren, a faculty member in the Storytelling Institute at South Mountain Community College. “You will hear stories about blood-drawing ghosts, haunted houses, spirits from the other world, & many other Irish horrors in story form.”
Storytelling is 1 of the hallmarks of traditional Irish culture, though not always as familiar to modern audiences as music & dance. Scary Irish Stories for Halloween provides a great opportunity to hear some of the best stories of the Irish folk tradition this Friday at 7 p.m. The Irish Cultural Center is located at 1106 North Central Ave, in Phoenix. Admission is $5.
