Simon Agrees To Debates, Then Challenges Renzi
Democratic nominee Ellen Simon today announced that she has agreed to participate in a series of 8 public debates, 1 in each county of the 1st Congressional district. Today, Simon also issued an open challenge to Rick Renzi to participate in the debates. The debates were proposed earlier today in a release issued by Libertarian candidate, David Schlosser, which can be found at schlosserforcongress.com.
In response to Schlosser’s offer, Simon stated, “I look forward to participating in each of the 8 debates before Nov. 7th. The voters of the 1st Congressional District deserve to know where their candidates stand on the issues that matter most to them.” Simon continued, “One debate, in each county of the district, will allow as many residents as possible in our sizeable district to partake in the democratic process.”
On whether Rick Renzi will participate in the debates, Simon declared, “That is the sixty-four thousand dollar question: will Rick Renzi debate or not? I am hereby challenging Rick Renzi to participate in each of the 8 candidate debates.” Simon continued, “It is important for the democratic process that voters have ample chances to learn about & compare each candidate’s position on the war in Iraq, health care, protecting the environment, Social Security, & how to make our country safer, more secure, & fiscally responsible. These debates will help voters make their choice in November.”
