PACO
PACO Press Release:
What do Henri Matisse, Claude Monet, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, Vincent Van Gogh & Leonardo da Vinci have in common? All are visual artists of stature & recognition & all are artists who had a disability. PACO represents the realization among Arizona artists with disabilities that they can place themselves within the nationwide conversation about obstacles & take charge of at least some of the possibilities in engagement/ presentation of their own work.
Come celebrate the grand opening of PACO Gallery with A First Friday Opening for GREENSHOW! Artists from throughout the Phoenix area & beyond have responded to PACO’s call for “anything green in any medium (green money, green cars, green grass, green this, green that, green eggs & ham).” GREENSHOW is the premiere show of the PACO Gallery.
With artists being who they are, submissions have been rendered in paint for the most part, but viewers are guaranteed an eye catching & imaginative array of work from both well known & emerging artists in GREENSHOW.
PACO, which stands for Phoenix Arts Collective, has come from dream to reality in record time. Gallery Director Claudette Cohn & artist members have contributed their vision & a good measure of sweat & hard work to get PACO ready for its opening. Space to develop the gallery was contributed by Red Mountain Retail Group & fiscal sponsorship provided by VSA arts of Arizona.
Some of the work on view could be considered ‘outsider’ & some is definitely ‘mainstream’ but all of it is green. GREENSHOW & the grand opening event for PACO Gallery – which will include refreshments & live music by Zimbabwe Nkenya – is not to be missed.
What: GREENSHOW – A First Friday Opening event: Fri., Oct. 6th, from 6 – 10 PM at PACO, 625 W. Indian School Road (corner of 7th Ave) in Phoenix. For more information call 602-279-2654 or visit www.phxartscollective.org.
