Morenci Mine Tour

Take a tour of the Phelps Dodge Mining Company's Morenci operation that began 125 years ago. Now an open pit mine, visitors are able to travel in air-conditioned comfort while touring the 90-square-mile facility. The Copper guides will meet you at the Morenci Motel. At this time a safety briefing & overview of the tour will occur. The tour lasts 2-and-a-half hours & is filled with information regarding the mine's history & copper production from start to finish. Visitors are even given tours of several processing facilities & get an up-close view of the mine haul trucks. Advanced reservations are required for the Morenci Mine tours. To make your reservation cal 1-877-646-TOUR(8687). The cost is $8 for adults, $7 per person for groups, $6 for seniors over 65, & $4 for children above the age of 9. Safety regulations prohibit children under the age of 9 from joining the tours.

Closed-toed shoes are required on tour, & shirts with sleeves are recommended. Be sure to check seasonal weather conditions & dress accordingly, as the tour is an outdoor experience.
