Mesa Storytelling Festival

The "Mesa Storytelling Festival" presents a weekend of stories, food, music & fun for families to enjoy on Oct. 27th, from 9 a.m. - 9 p.m. & on Oct. 28th, from 9:30 a.m. - 9 p.m. on the lawn of the Mesa Convention Center. National, regional & youth talent will gather to share a wide array of stories: folk tales, tall tales, ghost stories, myths, humor, great legends from America & tales from all over the globe. In addition to the wide variety of storytelling events, this festival features several booths with a lot of good food, & entertainment from local bands Mundo Latino Mariachi Trio, MYS Fiddlers, Oceans Apart, Los Brisas Star Steelers, & the Sue Harris Duo.

Featuring some of the top names among national & regional storytellers, Mesa Storytelling Festival hosts traditional telling throughout the 2-day festival. Storytelling events are scheduled morning, afternoon & evening on 3 stages/tents for audiences to experience.

Newly added events to this year’s festival include celebrations for the Halloween weekend with a Children’s scary story Hour & Costume Parade on Oct. 28th. The Costume Parade & Scary Stories for Children is a free event held in the Tent on the Green. Stories will be appropriate for children 5-8 years of age. The public is encouraged to bring their children in the morning for the free event, & then purchase tickets for the remainder of the festival.

Other new events for this year’s festival include the Early Bird Concert on Oct. 27th, held in the Tent on the Green, & the After Hours Receptions (Oct 27th & 28th) at the Phoenix Marriott Mesa where the public can meet & interact with the storytellers. Additional special events to round out the weekend’s festivities include a Scary Story Hour for Adults, a Story Swap & a “Humor Us” concert.
