"All-American Road"

A unique portion of State Route (SR) 179 in the Sedona area received national recognition as the state's 1st "All-American Road," the highest designation a scenic or historic roadway can receive from the federal government. The National Scenic Byways Program is a grass-roots collaborative effort to help recognize, preserve & enhance selected roads throughout the United States. The U.S. Secretary of Transportation recognizes certain roads as "All-American Roads" or "National Scenic Byways" based on one or more archeological, cultural, historic, natural, recreational & scenic qualities.
