Wildland Firefighting Course
Students who successfully complete the course will earn 3 credits. The course is offered on Fridays & Saturdays from September 29th to October 21st. This course teaches basic wildland firefighting. Instruction includes locating & reporting the fire, incident operations & management, suppression equipment, fire behavior, size-up, methods of suppression, & safety. Individuals wishing to start careers in wildland firefighting are encouraged to enroll in this course. The lead instructor is Robert Shirkey, a veteran of the U. S. Department of Forestry.
