WIFA Seeking 2007 Funding Cycle Applications

As part of its continuing effort to provide financial assistance for Arizona's water & wastewater infrastructure, the Water Infrastructure Finance Authority of Arizona today began soliciting clean & drinking water State Revolving Fund Project Priority List (PPL) applications for the 2007 funding cycle from governmental & non-governmental drinking water & wastewater facilities.

In state fiscal year 2006, the WIFA Board of Directors has approved more than $128 million in low-interest loans from Arizona's Clean Water Revolving Fund (CWRF) to wastewater & water reclamation facilities. The WIFA Board of Directors also approved more that $76 million in low-interest loans from Arizona's Drinking Water Revolving Fund (DWRF) to drinking water facilities.

By submitting an application to WIFA, eligible borrowers are included on the annual Project Priority List (PPL), which is part of the clean & drinking water Intended Use Plans. Projects are prioritized based on public health factors, condition of drinking water or wastewater facilities, local fiscal capacity, prior year funding, & project benefits including water quality improvement, conservation & consolidation/regionalization. The PPL process ensures that those who most need financial assistance receive funding.

WIFA will host a financing workshop as a part of its applications process. The workshop is scheduled for:

* Friday, Sept. 22nd from 1-3 p.m. at the WIFA Offices, Room 250, 1110 W. Washington St., Phoenix.

The deadline to submit a CWRF or DWRF Project Priority List application is October 5th, 2006. Following a public review & comment period, the WIFA Board of Directors will approve a final Intended Use Plan & Project Priority List for the Clean & Drinking Water State Revolving Funds in December. The Intended Use Plan & Project Priority List become effective on Jan. 1st, 2007.

Clean & Drinking Water State Revolving Fund Project Priority List (PPL) applications can be found at WIFA's Web site (www.azwifa.gov).
