Plein Air Outdoor Painting in Old Bisbee

Mark your calendars for the weekend of September 8th-10th. Check your art supplies, & enjoy a weekend of Plein Air Outdoor Painting in Old Bisbee.

The Plein Air event is being held in conjunction with the Bisbee Bloomers Garden Tour. Artists are invited to paint in the gardens on tour & other nearby private locations, or paint along the streets & hillsides of Old Bisbee.

Participating artists will gather Fri. afternoon or Sat. morning at the Bisbee Visitor Center to register if they haven't already. At this time they can also pick up their information packets & have their canvases & papers stamped. Registration takes place from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Fri. & Sat. from 9 a.m. to noon.

Friday evening there will be a guided tour of gardens & painting locations from 5-7 p.m., followed by a reception for the artists at 7 p.m.

Artists may paint all day Saturday & until noon on Sunday when they turn in their paintings for judging. There will be over $1000 in cash & other prizes awarded.

A special youth competition will be featured on Sat. There will be 2 categories: ages 8 to 12, & 13 to 18. Young artists register that morning & paint from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. They will turn in their artwork that afternoon at the Visitor Center. Their work will be included in a Sunday competition & reception with separate awards & prizes offered.

Local Galleries &shops will be open for a Gallery Walk on Sat. night from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

On Sunday a reception, exhibit, sale & awards ceremony will take place from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Central School Project. Friends & art lovers are encouraged to attend to see the array of paintings created over the weekend & maybe find a new piece of art to add to their collection.
