Partnership Rolls Out Heavy Equipment Program
A strategic partnership has been formed between Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT), City of Globe, Gila County, & Gila Community College to provide workforce development opportunities to adults of Gila County. The program includes training on heavy equip. & opportunities to train for Class B Commercial Driver License. The training is a result of all 4 entities pooling resources to meet the demand of preparing qualified heavy equipment operators. This effort parallels the local economic development.
The county, city & ADOT will provide the equipment for training with the college providing the instructors. The program entails both classroom instruction & field training which includes operation of the equip. Jerry Farr & Lex Sheppard of Gila Co. will direct the program. The classroom instruction will be held at Gila Pueblo Campus of Gila Community College on Thurs. evenings from 6 pm to 9 pm with the field training conducted on Saturdays from 7 am to 1 pm at the Gila Co. Fair Grounds. The 1st day of instruction is Sept. 7th.
