Minimal Changes For NASCAR In 2007
If you recall, NASCAR chairman Brian France promised to make slight adjustments to the championship format & had not ruled out tweaking the locations of the final 10 races in 2007. When the schedule came out today, it was unchanged.
The 26th & final qualifying race will still be at Richmond International Raceway, & the Chase will begin Sept. 16th at New Hampshire International Speedway. Then over to Dover, & onto the championship at Homestead-Miami Speedway on Nov. 18th. The Cup schedule has no site changes, but several dates have. The 2nd race at Daytona International Speedway has been moved back a week to July 7th, & is in between in New Hampshire & Chicago.
Also, the race at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway will be July 29th, 1 week earlier than before. It will be followed by races in Long Pond, Pa., & then Watkins Glen, N.Y. The season will start with the exhibition Budweiser Shootout at Daytona on Feb. 10th, & the season-opening Daytona 500 will be on Feb. 18th.
