KidsCare

On Wednesday, August 9th, the Covering Arizona Kids Coalition will announce an intensive 2-month push to enroll eligible, uninsured children in KidsCare health coverage as the new school year begins.

Arizona Diamondbacks’ pitcher Miguel Batista will open the campaign at a press conference at Chase Field at 2 p.m. The Arizona effort is part of the national Covering Kids & Families Back-to-School Campaign. Phoenix is 1 of 8 targeted cities in the U.S. where the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s Covering Kids & Families Initiative is concentrating its efforts.

The new study, conducted by the State Health Access Data Assistance Center at the University of Minnesota School of Public Health, documents the importance of programs like KidsCare in covering children in working families in an era when private, employer-sponsored health coverage is on the decline. The data show that many uninsured Arizona children are already qualified to receive low-cost or free health coverage through Medicaid & KidsCare, but they are not enrolled.
