Evernham Motorsports Drops Mayfield

Jeremy Mayfield has been released from Evernham Motorsports, team owner Ray Evernham said Friday morning at Watkins Glen International. Evernham did not want to discuss the termination. Due to legal reasons, Mayfield said he will not talk about the situation. Earlier this week, Bill Elliot was brought in as a replacement driver. Evernham's driver lineup for next year is set, but it's rumoured that Elliott Sadler has already accepted a deal to drive for Evernham Motorsports in 2007.
