Southwest Paleontology Society Meeting

On August 1st, a representative of Tread Lightly, Inc, will give a special presentation & discussion intended to educate the public on responsible & ethical outdoor recreation practices. This special SPS meeting begins at 7 p.m. in the Mesa Southwest Museum Annex Meeting Room located at 34 N Macdonald St., directly across the street from the museum. The public is invited & encouraged to attend.

T.R.E.A.D. is an acronym for:

T ravel & recreate with minimum impact
R espect the environment & the rights of others
E ducate yourself, plan & prepare before you go
A llow for future use of the land, leave it better than you found it
D iscover the rewards of responsible recreation

The program will include a 20-25 minute powerpoint presentation followed by a group discussion, including possible outdoor scenarios. You can make good choices when recreating outdoors, whether it’s with a 4-wheel drive, ATV, bicycle, or simply hiking. It’s up to us to preserve our natural spaces for future generations.

Tread Lightly! literature will be available to take home or give to others.
