Sad Day For Rock & Roll
Syd Barrett, Pink Floyd co-founder, has died, the band said Tuesday. He was 60. A spokeswoman for the band said Barrett had died several days ago, but she didn't disclose the cause of death. Barrett had suffered from diabetes for years. Barrett co-founded Pink Floyd in 1965 with Waters, Mason, & Wright. Barrett quit the band in 1968 suffering from mental problems landing him in an asylum for a few years before returning to his hometown of Cambridge, England. After being released, he moved into his mother's suburban house, where he passed the time painting & tending to the garden. The band spokeswoman said a small, private funeral will be held.
