Pinal Co. Employees Donate Over $1,900

On Tuesday, June 27th, Supervisor Smith along with Pinal County Planning & Development Director David Kuhl & Air Quality's Steven Joyce handed a check totaling $1,903 to Bill Dow of the Apache Junction Food Bank. The money was raised from a golf tournament held on Saturday, June 10th, at Queen Valley Golf Club. The 2nd Annual Pinal County Summer Classic brought in golfers from central & southern Arizona to raise money for the food bank.

Kuhl & Joyce are the organizers of the event.

"We are glad to be able to give back to the County," Kuhl said. "Golf is a fun way of doing it."

Joyce added: "We had over 70 golfers at this event & many of them were Pinal County employees."

Once he accepted the check, Dow, the Vice President of the Food Bank was grateful for the help. "This will go a long way to helping stock up our shelves for the fall," Dow commented. "We're heading out right now to purchase items like pinto beans, flour, sugar & rice."

Dow estimated that the Apache Junction Food Bank assists eight to nine thousand people over the year.
