Oldham Announces Candidacy

Attorney Brenda Oldham has announced her candidacy for Pinal County Superior Court Judge, Division 8. Division 8 is the new division of the Court recently created to meet the needs of the County’s growing population.

"The American judicial system is one of the most basic & fundamentally important foundations of our society,” said Oldham, an attorney in Pinal County for many years. "The people of this county have the right to expect their judges to be strong committed leaders that will enforce the law. I believe that I have a valuable contribution to make to the Pinal County judicial system."

Oldham, a former Pinal County Deputy Attorney, has also served on the Pinal County Board of Legal Aid. She has provided services & was a staff attorney with the Apache Junction office of Southern Arizona Legal Aid. Because of her recognized work with children, she is regularly appointed by the Superior Court to represent children suffering from abuse & neglect.

Oldham has dedicated her time to the Apache Junction Thunder Mountain Middle School Site Advisory Council. She has been a Girl Scout leader, softball coach & coach for her church youth group volleyball team.

"Because I own my own business, I have had the ability to give back to the community of Pinal County by providing legal services to many at a discounted rate & sometimes for no charges at all for some low-income clients," said Oldham. "Everyone has the right to equal access to the court system."

Oldham recognized an opportunity to further share her skills & make a difference in the community when Division 8 of the Superior Court was created in December of 2005. "Judges affect people's lives in the most fundamental of ways," she said. "A judge must be conscientious and committed to the very highest ethical standards of judicial practice. A judge must demonstrate sound decisions in order to seek the truth."

She added, "With 20 years of legal practice, I have the experience, the wisdom, the patience & the integrity to provide accountability to the deserving people of Pinal County as a Superior Court Judge."

Oldham, who will be 50 in January, is the widow of United States Air Force Captain Michael Schenck. She is the mother of 2 children, Ryan (19) & Alyssa (17).
