$26,250 Grant to The Town of Duncan

Water Infrastructure Finance Authority of Arizona (WIFA) Chairman Steve Owens today announced that WIFA has awarded a $26,250 technical assistance grant to Town of Duncan for a drinking water treatment study.

The study will help determine the source of the turbidity in the town’s drinking water as well as what measures the Town of Duncan can to take to rectify the problem.

"This grant will help Duncan address their drinking water needs,” said Chairman Owens, who is also Director of the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality.

The study will take a 3 part approach to solving the problem including identifying & quantifying contaminants in the water, developing water treatment alternatives to mitigate the problem, & designing & permitting the selected water treatment alternative.

WIFA grants are awarded to communities for the pre-design & design phase of their drinking water & wastewater infrastructure projects. Grants are awarded in March of each year. Communities may receive up to $35,000 in grant funds.
