The Verdict Is Guilty For Huggins
Gila Co. Attorney Daisy Flores has announced that on June 14th, 2006, a Gila Co. jury found Miami resident Clayton Huggins, 24 guilty of 1st Degree Murder. Daisy Flores prosecuted the case. On May 22nd, of last year Gila County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a report of a body found in a shallow grave in the area of Cherry Flats. The body was id'd as Marcus Pizano. Under lead Detective Mark Guemes & the assistance of numerous local agencies conducted over 50 interviews during the months following the bodies discovery. Based on the investigation, it was determined that Huggins murdered Pizano somewhere between May 10th & May 15th, 2005. After the murder several co-defendants conspired to move Marcus Pizano's body to Cherry Flats & destroy any evidence of the crime. Two of the co-defendents testified against Clayton Huggins & the other co-defendents are pending trial. Huggins is scheduled to be sentenced in Gila County Superior Court on July 12th, 2006, by Presiding Judge Robert Duber, II. He is facing a possible sentence of 25 years to life.
