A partnership agreement was announced today between Mesa Arts Center & Mesa Community College to increase visual & performing arts educational opportunities for students & community members. The agreement will create credit offerings for classes held at Mesa Arts Center’s Art Studios facility.

Beginning Fall 2006, adult visual & performing arts classes offered at Art Studios will be designated as credit classes & recognized by the Maricopa County Community College District. Mesa Community College evaluated the course content & instructional guidelines & recognized the opportunity for students and community members to learn in the excellent facilities the Mesa Arts Center provides.

Mesa Arts Center credit classes will be facilitated & taught by Mesa Arts Center instructors. Mesa Community College staff will work behind the scenes to assure the classes continue to meet the highest standards. “This partnership continues a wonderful 20 year program, retains our award winning faculty, & provides our classes in a similar format to what our students have experienced prior to the partnership,” says Gerry Fathauer, Executive Director, Mesa Arts Center.

Mesa Arts Center’s adult education program was designated to cease operation as part of cost reduction measures for the City of Mesa’s 2006-2007 budget. Mesa Community College came forward as an ideal partner because of their current expansion plans for facilities & programs in the Downtown Mesa area.
