Napolitano Sends Bush Gas Price Petitions
Governor Janet Napolitano today wrote to President George W. Bush & enclosed petitions signed by more than 37,000 Arizonans urging the President to ask Congress to act on comprehensive legislation on an energy policy that would result in lower gas prices.
"Arizonans need immediate & permanent relief from the high costs of fuel,” Governor Napolitano said. “The President & Congress must act now to reduce our dependency on traditional fuels & the rising prices that affect America’s families.”
Additionally, the Governor announced a 14-week fuel facts campaign dedicated to providing fuel-saving tips & other gasoline-related information to Arizona consumers. “The Governor’s Fuel Facts” will include a weekly message and Web page with information to help Arizonans get the most out of a tank of gas.
State agencies including the Arizona Departments of Weights & Measures, Commerce, Environmental Quality, Transportation, Public Safety, & the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety will contribute to the Web page.
"For far too long, consumers have experienced drastic spikes in gas prices while oil companies rake in record profits,” the Governor said. “This information will be helpful to Arizonans who need to stretch their dollars at the pump.”
