Fire Updates
Black Mountain Complex, (Phoenix District, Bureau of Land Management): 11,222 acres at 40% contained. This fire is 11 miles northeast of Bullhead City and is burning in brush. Residences & wildlife habitat are threatened. Rapid rates of spread, spotting & flame lengths up to 30' were reported. This fire is 11 miles northeast of Bullhead City, AZ in brush. The complex consists of the Union, Secret, Nutt, & Airpark fires. Several residences in Golden Valley were evacuated. Burn out operations conducted to protect the community were successful. Moderate rates of spread were observed on the Secret fire, & the spread of the fire on the Nutt & Union fires has been halted. This was a multiple ignition lightning caused fire. It is burning in grass, juniper & desert scrub. Minimal fire activity was observed on the Union Fire; the fire is now 7,005 acres & 75% contained. Crews will continue to work extinguishing hot spots. 17 crews, 20 engines, 5 water tenders, 2 helicopters, 1 air attack, 6 single engine air tankers, 5 heavy air tankers. Total personnel 545.
Potato Complex, (Apache-Sigreaves National Forest): 1,800 acres at 30% contained. This fire is 10 miles northwest of Heber-Overgaard & is burning in ponderosa, pinyon pine & grass. The fire received some precipitation, which minimized fire activity. The fire will be monitored by air. The Potato Complex Fire has become active due to the high winds. The fire gained 450 acres on the north side of the fire & crossed the 504 road gaining 50 acres. 3 Type 1 Crews 1 Helicopter, 5 Engines, 4 Dozers, 2 Water Tenders, 13 Overhead are on scene.
Kinlichee 02, (Navajo Regional Office, Bureau of Indian Affairs): 1,655 acres & 75% contained. This fire is 10 miles east of Ganado and is burning in pinyon pine & juniper. No new info was reported.
Bonita, (San Carlos Agency, Bureau of Indian Affairs): 2,000 acres at 90% contained. This fire is 15 miles north of Safford & is burning in grass and brush. No new info was reported. This will be the last report unless new info is received.
Snap, (Arizona Field Office, Bureau of Land Management): 600 acres at 80% contained. This fire is 54 miles south of St George & is burning in grass and brush. Smoldering was reported.
Indian, Kaibab National Forest. This fire is 19 miles southwest of Jacob Lake in grass. Active fire behavior was reported. The Indian Fire (500 acres 75% Containment) North Kaibab Ranger District. The fire is north of Monument & Crazy Jug points. The Indian Fire is largely burning in timber, grass, & brush. The fire was started by lightning. Resources assigned include 3 Type 2 hand crews, 4 engines, 2 dozers, 4 water tenders & 2 helicopters for a total of about 100 firefighting personnel.
Warm Wildland Fire Use Fire, (2 acres) North Kaibab Ranger District. The fire is located about 3 miles south of Jacob Lake adjacent to state Highway 67. The fire is burning in ponderosa pine litter, & fire managers said it will help reduce heavy accumulations of fuel on the forest floor while also restoring fire to the ecosystem. The Warm Wildland Fire Use Fire was started by lightning on June 8th & was discovered by fire personnel.
