Downed Cessna 180
The wreckage of a single-engine Cessna 180 was spotted around 7:30 a.m. Sunday near Bloody Basin in southeastern Yavapai County by another pilot. The crash killed all 4 men aboard who were from the East Valley. The plane was believed to be heading to Payson from a Queen Creek airfield. Federal authorities are investigating what caused the crash. Scott Reed, spokesman for the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office, identified the victims as Mark Allen Hawkins, 51 of Queen Creek, thought to be the pilot; Gene E. Cornwell, 46, & his son, Heath Edward Cornwell, 28, both of Queen Creek; & Landon Palomo, 28, of Gilbert.
