Brins Fire Update

3,000+ acres burned in the Coconino National Forest near Sedona & is running up Mt. Wilson getting into heavy timber. Neighborhoods that have been evacuated are: Rim Shadows, Painted Cliff, Shadow Rock Circle, & Casa Contenta. So far, highway 89A is closed from Forest Highlands to the north part of Sedona. The American Red Cross has 2 shelters for those evacuated. The 1st one is located at West Sedona School at 570 Posse Ground Road & the 2nd shelter in north of Sedona is Northern Arizona University. There is a low pressure off the west coast that's going to interact with a high to the east of AZ, & that will result in a tightening of the pressure gradient. When that happens, its going to get really windy. With the canyons, it's possible for winds in the 40 mph range because of funneling. Tomorrow is going to be a rough day for the crews. Staging will be at the CoffeePot & Shamrock in Sedona.
