Arizona’s Healthcare Fights Hunger 2006
Arizona’s healthcare community and the state’s food banks will join forces to launch a statewide food drive during June. Healthcare Fights Hunger 2006—a month-long project to combat hunger in Arizona—is co-sponsored by the Arizona Hospital & Healthcare Association (AzHHA), Arizona Medical Association & the Association of Arizona Food Banks (AAFB). The dual goals of the project are to inform Arizonans that almost 800,000 people in this state don’t get enough to eat & to help community food banks feed the hungry.
Healthcare Fights Hunger will kick off on June 6th, National Hunger Awareness Day & continue throughout the month. The food drive is a natural link with the healthcare community as nutrition is a key component of good health.
Participating hospitals & physician offices will have food bank bins posted in their facilities for their staffs as well as the public and visitors. Employees, physicians & volunteers are encouraged to fill the bins with peanut butter, fruit juice, tuna, cereal & canned fruit.
The public is invited to participate in Healthcare Fights Hunger by dropping off non-perishables - particularly canned fruit, cereal, fruit juice, peanut butter or tuna - at the following locations:
