Additional Fire Restrictions For Phoenix BLM Lands

Due to the recent increase of fire danger & in the interest of public safety, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has implemented additional fire restrictions on public lands administered by Phoenix District Office. Fire restrictions have been in effect since June 7th, & will continue until sufficient precipitation or other factors lessens the fire danger. These additional fire restrictions are necessary to reduce the risk of wildland fires to communities, residents near public lands & people who using public lands.

The fire restrictions prohibit the following:

* Camp fires, charcoal broilers or wood stoves (including wood pellet fired cook stoves).
* Propane & petroleum-fueled stoves, lanterns or heating devices are allowed.
* Smoking, except w/in an enclosed vehicle or building where the area is cleared of all flammable materials.
* Motor vehicles off road, except when parking in an area devoid of vegetation within 10' of the roadway.
* All vehicles w/internal combustion engines w/out properly installed, maintained, & working spark arresters when traveling on roads crossing public land.
* The use of explosives.
* Fireworks are always prohibited by state law.
* The use of chainsaws, & other equip. powered by an internal combustion engine.
* The use of welders with an open flame.
* Discharging a firearm other than hunting in accordance with Arizona hunting laws.
