Sale Approved

Baseball Commissioner Allan H. (Bud) Selig announced earlier today that Major League Baseball ownership has unanimously approved the sale of the Washington Nationals to a group led by real estate developer Theodore N. Lerner. However, the Lerner group cannot take full operational control of the club until the sales process closes, which is expected to be sometime next month. In the meantime, the group has already become involved in the detailed stadium planning process.
