Rookie Busch Series Driver Spencer Clark Killed
Spencer Clark, who made his official Busch Series debut earlier this year, & a crew member were killed in a single-vehicle crash on I-40 in New Mexico. Clark, was only 19, & Andrew Phillips, 28, were both killed when their truck & trailer were hit by a gust of wind as they passed through the mountains just east of Albuquerque on Sunday night. The vehicle lost control & both men were ejected, state police spokesman Lt. Jimmy Glascock said. Clarks Busch Series debut was in March & he had finished in 35th place. It was in 2003, that he was selected as the Super Late Model divisions rookie of the year. Phillips, was an all-Western Athletic Conference offensive lineman for the University of Hawaii, & was a member of Clark's Allegiant Air Racing Team. Clark wasn't wearing a seat belt when the accident happened. Funeral arrangements were pending.
