Rabid Foxes Found At The Arboretum

Since January of this year, 5 foxes that were found at the Boyce Thompson Arboretum have tested positive for rabies at the Arizona State Laboratory. State health officials have reported rabid fox activity in other parts of the state also.

Pinal Co. Division of Public Health officials are working with Pinal Co. Animal Control, Arboretum officials, the Arizona Dept. of Health Services, & USDA Wildlife Services to implement control measures in the area. Rabies warning signs have been posted by park officials & park officials will close portions of trails as needed if visitors or staff spot any foxes. Health officials want to remind park visitors to avoid approaching foxes or other wild animals, & to report any fox sightings to park officials.
