Heard Museum WEST Opens June 24th
On Saturday, June 24, from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. the world famous Heard Museum unveils its 2nd community location in the city of Surprise. The new location features a classroom for children's hands-on activities, tours, adult programs & continuing education.
The Heard Museum West's 1st long-term exhibition will be "Our Stories": With more than 400 objects on display "Our Stories" will focus on the great cultural diversity of American Indians in Arizona. The exhibit will examine how Indian people have been tied to the land from ancestral times to today. "Our Stories" will share American Indian reflections on their homeland, families, communities & art. The gallery will be filled with sweeping landscape images, portraits of artists & community members. During, the grand opening celebration, visitors will be able to explore the new museum's exhibit gallery, classroom & Shop. Plus, there will be music, dance performances (10 a.m., noon & 2 p.m.), & artist demonstrations (9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.) throughout the day.
Heard Museum West is at Civic Center Plaza & Paradise Lane (east of Surprise Staduim) on 16126 N. Civic Center Plaza, in Surprise.
