Gila Community College Hosted Expo

Community partnerships for high school students were center stage at the Career & Technical Education (CTE) Expo hosted by the Gila Community College. Approximately 300 students from Miami, San Carlos, & Globe high schools had the opportunity to examine 1st hand Fire Science, Wildland Firefighting, & Law Enforcement Programs. Students met & spoke with professionals from U.S. Forestry, Gila County Sheriff’s Office, & Globe Fire Dept. Demonstrations were given by students who are currently enrolled in the Fire Science Program. During the '06-'07 school year, juniors & seniors will have the opportunity to earn both high school & college credit in the areas of Fire Science & Law Enforcement. Courses are taught by college certified instructors. Parents & students are encouraged to contact their high school counselor or the Gila Community College for additional info on these exciting programs. For additional info on the enrollment process contact, 425-8481.
