Az. State Quarter Commission Meeting
Governor Janet Napolitano today announced the Arizona State Quarter Commission will hold a public meeting tomorrow at 10 a.m., at the Arizona Historical Society and Tucson Main Museum, at 949 E. Second Street in Tucson.
Admission is FREE & doors open at 9 a.m. Museum visitors will see a special exhibit featuring relics & artifacts relating to Arizona’s statehood & rich historical past. Costumed staff will conduct museum tours & offer inspiration for quarter design ideas to visitors. Some of the gallery treasures include: Wyatt Earp’s pistol, Geronimo’s famous medicine bag & Empress Carlotta’s royal jewels.
The 22-member volunteer Az. State Quarter Commission is working through July 15th, 2006 to get public input for the 48th quarter issued as part of the U.S. Mint's 50 State Quarter Program. Arizona’s quarter will be released into circulation in 2008.
Submission forms will be available during the event. Narratives of 150 words or less are requested, but artwork is accepted to help visualize the design concept. Special coloring forms will be available for kids. The deadline for public input is July 15th, 2006.
