Arizona Fire Updates
ROMERO has burned 764 acres, & is 95% contained & lies on the west end of the Santa Catalina Mountains in Coronado National Forest near Catalina State Park in Tucson. Crews are going to continue patrolling & rehabbing the fireline. Type 3 Incident Commander (IC) Mark Nunez is managing the fire. The ROMERO fire was active last night. The resources assigned: 1 Type 1 crew, 1 Type 2 crew, 2 helicopters, 21 overhead, 61 total personnel.
NORTH TAYLOR has burdned 117 acres, & is also 95% contained & is burning on Mt. Graham in Coronado National Forest, 19 miles SW of Safford. Larry Raley's Eastern Arizona Type 2 Incident Management Team transferred command to Type 3 IC Mike McDonnell. Crews have continued to improve the containment line & the mop up process. Resources assigned: 3 Type 2 crews, 1 helicopters, 61 total personnel.
Restrictions:
The Gila National Forest is currently in Stage I Fire and Smoking restrictions. Open campfires are limited to designated campgrounds only and smoking is prohibited, except within an enclosed vehicle or building, a developed recreation site, or while stopped in an area at least three feet in diameter that is cleared of flammable material.
