Globe Library Overdue Notices

The library is addressng another problem: that of non-returns or "lost" items. In the past 10 years, 1,140 items have been checked out to patrons & not returned. This has amounted to a dollar loss of about $22,000. That exceeds 10% of the library's annual book budget. As a cost saving measure, effective today, the library will send only 1 reminder notice to patrons with overdue materials. This will be followed by a bill for the full replacement cost of the items plus a $7 per item fee. Continued failure to return library materials is considred theft of City of Globe property & will be treated as such.
