Experienced Public Attorney to Assume Vacancy
Gov. Janet Napolitano announced the appointment of Phoenix attorney Marian M. Yim to the Arizona Board of Executive Clemency. Yim replaces Marshall Porter, who recently resigned his position on the board. The Board is responsible for reviewing & considering petitions from prison inmates legally eligible for parole. The Board hears cases on a regular basis, & also makes recommendations to the Governor on requests for clemency.
Yim is a seasoned attorney with more than 20 years’ of public law experience. She's worked as an Assistant Attorney General, a staff attorney for the Az. Supreme Court, counsel to the city of Phoenix’s mayor’s office, & as an adjunct professor for the College of Law at Az. State University. Additionally, Yim is actively involved in the Asian community, serving on committees that promote diversity and equal opportunity in the legal field.
Yim will begin serving immediately. Her term expires at the end of 2006.
