Bisbee’s 1st Telethon Aired On Channel 2
The Boys & Girls Club of Bisbee will host the town’s 1st live telethon on Cable One’s Channel 2 on April 8th, from 2 p.m. until 10 p.m. & April 9th from 2 p.m. to 6 pm. The event will serve as the club’s major fundraiser for the year & will assist in programs for the children of the Bisbee-Naco community. Donations may be called in at any time to the club at (520) 432-3010 or by visiting the website at www.bgcbisbee.com. The telethon will also be the 1st live televised event from the club, thanks to a cooperative venture with Bisbee’s Cable One & Prism Communications. An agreement has been reached for Cable One to provide the equipment & labor needed to air community events from the Boys & Girls Club’s building at 405 Arizona Street while Prism Communications, managers of Channel 2, will serve as a sort of administrator of the events to be aired as well as provide equipment & studio. This 12-hour, live event will feature local talent such as popular Bisbee-based Train Wreck, Buzz & the Soul Senders, as well as Miss Arizona, Audrey Sibley from Hereford. Many other local personalities & talent will also be on-hand. “A positive place for kids” seems to sum-up the Boys & Girls Club which provides an abundance of services for Bisbee’s younger population. Among them are: homework assistance, tutoring, mentorship, job training, leadership clubs, computer skills, gang intervention, & an extensive summer program.
